Our purpose-built home was designed with our guests total comfort in mind. Peace and tranquility abound in our rural setting on the Southern slopes of the Tongiriro National Park in view of Mt Ruapehu.
Our guests can enjoy the magnificent bush walks and cycle trails that surround this area. Or you can relax in the English garden setting accompanied by a deer park surrounding the house.
Your Ruapehu accommodation has views of Mt Ruapehu and Mangawhero River runs through the property.
CAIRN is a Scottish term for a rock outcrop or a rock stack. BRAE is also a Scottish term for river valley hence the name Cairnbrae. Cairns is an old Scottish family name with a family history of several generations.
Cairnbrae House is ecological friendly. We collect our own rain water. It is untainted and has no chemicals. It make the whisky taste better.
We process most waste products and rejuvenate the garden soil so we can grow our own vegetables and fruit.

The upstairs section of the house is dedicated for guest’s sole use with a guest lounge, tea and coffee making facilities. On request there is available, a three course dinner including local venison and other delights.
There is a wide selection of New Zealand Wines from the cellar. (Dietary needs are catered for).
